Onkaparinga Gaelic Football Club
Onkaparinga Gaelic Football is one of six teams within South Australia that compete in the South Australia’s Gaelic Football Championship. Gaelic football is the most popular sport in Ireland, attracting tens of thousands of spectators up and down the country throughout the year.
A hybrid game is also played regularly against the AFL’s best in the International Rules Series, which was played in Adelaide Oval in 2017.
The club, alongside the other five men’s teams, is based at St Mary’s Park, St Mary’s in grounds shared with the Kenilworth Football Club.
The club last won the men’s state championship in 2016 and also competes in the association’s social 7-a-side competition.
Despite being the most popular sport in Ireland, with a strong contingent of native Irish players within the competition, the majority of players within the club are Australian born, who look to play Gaelic Football through the months of October to March, outside the AFL and soccer season.
Our very own Gabe Phillips was once a member of this successful team.
